Marmot pulsar 2 3-season backpacking tent, features ample headroom durable construction. Fully Taped Floor and Fly Seams, Color Coded “Easy Pitch” Clips and Poles – Confusion-free set up. My 2-person, 3 season, dome-type Marmot Pulsar 2 tent is one of the most dependable tents there is against strong rains and winds to be expected in tropical rainforests in the Philippines. For the past year I have used the tent during overnight and multiday climbs, water never penetrated its seams either from underneath or through its flysheet during the rainy season. The tent tested particularly well in Mt Maranat when it rained overnight. Except for some condensation, my buddy and I stayed dry till morning. This tent can also hold itself well against strong gusts of winds if pegged properly with guylines. Unlike other tents, its poles made of fiberglass are sturdy enough against strong winds.
The tent is freestanding and can be assembled in few minutes. It uses only two set of poles. It is relatively light weighting 3 lbs. The inside of the tent has more than enough space for two Asian adults with a floor area of 28 square feet and peak height of 37 inches. I am 5’7″ and I can comfortably kneel at full height inside the tent. The tent also has one vestibule with area of 7.97 square feet for easy accesibility on the side of the tent. And for storage of full multi-day backpacks, shoes,sandals etc. The mesh section of the tent body allows for good ventilation which help minimze condensation during rainy seasons or in cold areas.
All in all, it is one of the best tents I have used and is quite affordable at Php 9,500. This is an excellent 3-season tent.
