DO’s

  • Always wear your helmet!
  • Pay attention to the road
  • Stay on the bike lane especially on a national road.
  • If there is no bike lane on the area at least stay on the side lanes
  • Follow Traffic Rules!
  • Travel on a safe speed.
  • Be polite with your co-pedestrians
  • Learn how to use Cycling hand signal ( see post below)
  • Look / check both sides before making a turn
  • Share the road.
  • When approaching a corner, give way to the vehicles already indicating that they are going to make a turn.

DON’Ts

  • No wearing of earphones while cycling
  • No racing specially if you are on a Public road
  • Don’t ride your bicycle if you are sick or under the influence of alcohol.
  • Never leave your bike w/out securing it. Always put a bike lock on it.
  • Never use a cellphone while cycling
  • Never over take a vehicle who stopped on a pedestrian crossing. Stop and check before proceeding.

IF YOU HAVE A CAR HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO DO TO PROTECT A CYCLIST:

  • Warn them by honking politely before passing them.
  • Upon passing give them at least 1 meter clearance for their safety.
  • Before opening your door, check first if there’s an approaching cyclist
  • Do not drive on a bicycle lane.
  • Indicate when pulling out, changing lanes or turning, so bike riders know your intentions.

                – Extra tire interior

                – Patch kits

                – Tire pump

                – Tire lever

                – Tire pump

                – Bike Multi Tool

4. Lights (if traveling at night or early in the morning)

                – Tail Light

                – Front light

4. Basic clothing consisting of:

– Gloves

– Arm Warmers

– Leg Warmers

5. Water Bottle

6. Personal medication/ first aid kit:

                – wound care

                – Maintenance (if any)

                – anti cramp spray

7. Whistle (in case of emergency)

8. Identification card

9. Extra money

10. Rain jacket (during rainy season)

11. Bike lock in case you need to leave your bike somewhere.


BIKE CARE

  • Wash your bike regularly especially on rainy days.
  • Use a dishwashing soap while cleaning your bike. Use a brush or a bike cleaning kit specially on the “DriveTrain” (Rare derailleur, Chain, Casette, Front Derailleur and crank)
  • Apply a lubricant on the “Drivetrain” after drying it up
  • Always check your brakes before riding out. Squeeze your brakes and make sure that it engage properly.
  • Always tune up your bike or visit you bike mechanic.
  • Check your Tires for enough air pressure. You can see the maximum air pressure on the sides of the tire.
  • Check the bolts regularly and make sure that it’s tight.

FOLDING BIKE

From it’s name “folding bike” it is designed to be handy and can be folded on many ways. And can be fit inside a car and sometimes allowed inside a train. Sometimes used as a commuter bike and sometimes a touring bike.

CITY / COMMUTERS BIKE

A combination of road bike and mountain bike. But different from a cyclocross bike. Most of the commuter bikes has a flat handle bar, rigid tires and a fix fork. Commonly used on the city for commuting and running some errands.

TOURING BIKE

Touring bikes are made for a Multiday rides and designed to carry heavy loads and fits a Pannier racks to carry heavy stuff. And It has the geometry and stability design for the riders comfort for a long cycling days.

ROAD BIKE

Are basically designed to ride on the roads. Unlike a city bike and a touring bike the geometry of this bike is more aero dynamic, Light weight and designed for road racing. If you are looking for a daily bike and comfortability this bike is not the bike that suits you.

MOUNTAIN BIKE

Designed for off road and hills. Wider tires for a better traction, bigger frames, with front and rear shocks to lessen the impact on the riders body while riding offroad.
